Vacancy Energy & IT Coordinator

Green Office Wageningen
Green Office Wageningen works towards a more sustainable Wageningen University and Research. Being part of the university ourselves, we lobby for sustainability in its operations, education and outreach. Green Office is driven by green-minded, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial students. We run our own projects that have a real impact on the policy and practice at WUR. We have an extended network and work together with multiple student organizations, caterers, departments, teachers and policy makers at WUR, as well as other organisations in Wageningen.

Energy & IT Coordinator
The Energy & IT Coordinator is responsible for her/his own Green Office portfolio. This includes for example our Fume Hood project, that aims to reduce the energy consumption on labs. You can also develop new projects, that are in line with your own interests. The responsibilities include the promotion and organisation of activities to create awareness, as well as direct contact with people from the University to lobby for more sustainable alternatives. As Energy & IT Coordinator of the Green Office, you have a real impact on how WUR goes about its energy and IT use. This makes it possible to make the operations of WUR more sustainable.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out existing projects within the Energy & IT portfolio
  • Follow developments at WUR and identify opportunities for new projects
  • Prepare for new projects and take the lead in setting them up
  • Communicate about the progress via the Green Office communication channels

Who are we looking for?

A bachelor/master student at WUR with…

  • Passion for sustainability and interest in energy and IT topics
  • Ability and willingness to engage in conversations with various types of people
  • Ability to identify, create and carry out projects with impact
  • Motivation and perseverance to convince and engage people
  • Ability to work independently on personal tasks as well as cooperatively in a team
  • Available for 8 hours a week from the 1st of September until July 2020 (preferably longer)
  • Available for some days in August and preferably also during the AID

Vacancy Community Coordinator

We have an extended network and work together with many different student organisations, as well as other stakeholders within and around the University.

Community Coordinator
The Community Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and expanding the sustainability community of the Green Office. In concrete, this means you are the direct contact person for (new) Green Office volunteers, as well as for people from other sustainably-minded organisations and staff members that participate in the Green Impact Program. Besides this, you are also responsible for organising the Seriously Sustainable week, together with the rest of the Green Office team. Your main goal is to involve as many people as possible in the projects from the Green Office, in order to increase our impact and make WUR more sustainable altogether.

Responsibilities

  • Build up and maintain relationships with all Green Office volunteers and organise monthly get togethers for the entire team
  • Involve staff members in sustainability at WUR, via the Green Impact Program
  • Be the contact person to the Green Active Network, a network of sustainably-minded (student) organisations in Wageningen
  • Communicate about ways to get involved via the Green Office communication channels

Possibilities for Green Office Volunteers

You can always get involved as a volunteer! This takes a little less time than the coordinator positions and are a very good way to get to know the Green Office.

  • Sustainability blog editors
    • Investigate sustainability at WUR by writing and collecting interesting stories for our sustainability blog. To be launched soon!
  • Green Impact Team Coaches 
    • Join a team of sustainably-minded staff members and assist them in performing sustainable actions in and around their workplace.
  • Student Cooking Corner Project Leaders
    • Stimulate the (international) community of Wageningen to show their local and vegetarian cooking skills in our Student Cooking Corner.
  • Sustainable Campus Tour Guides
    • Provide tours to different kinds of visitors about what is sustainable about our campus and where the biggest improvements can still be made.
  • Green Office Flex Volunteers
    • Do you have a limited amount of time, but still want to help the Green Office? Get involved by doing all kinds of different tasks whenever you are available!

A volunteer position requires only about 2-4 hours a week. You will be part of an enthusiastic and international team and gain experience in a green-minded student organization.
