Green Office Wageningen
Green Office Wageningen brings positive change to Wageningen University and Research. We are part of Wageningen UR and we lobby for sustainability in its operations, education, and outreach. Green Office is driven by green-minded, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial students. We run our own projects that have a real impact on the policy and practice at WUR. We have an extended network and work together with multiple student organizations, caterers, departments, teachers and policymakers at WUR, as well as other organizations like the municipality of Wageningen.

 


Food & Health Coordinator
The Food & Health Coordinator is responsible for this Green Office portfolio throughout the year. This includes, for example, the Reuse Revolution, Student Cooking Corner and Meatless Monday, but depending on your own interest you can also develop new projects. The responsibilities include the promotion and organization of activities to create awareness, as well as direct contact with people from the University to lobby for more sustainable alternatives. As Food & Health Coordinator, you have a lot of contact with the caterers at the campus and you have a real impact on how they implement sustainability in our canteens. This makes it possible to make the operations of WUR more sustainable.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out existing projects within the Food & Health portfolio (monitoring, promotion, organisation, internal and external communication)
  • Maintaining relationship with catering companies operating at WUR and lobbying for more sustainable business practices
  • Follow developments at WUR and identify opportunities for new projects
  • Prepare and lobby for new projects
  • Take lead in defining and proposing new projects
  • Communicate about the progress within the Food & Health portfolio via Green Office communication channels

Green Impact Coordinator
The Green Impact Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the Green Impact Program at WUR, a competition that aims to engage staff members in sustainability in and around their workplace. This includes recruiting Green Impact teams (consisting of staff members and assisting students), organising workshops to explain the program and activate the teams, supporting and stimulating the teams with their actions, coordinating the auditing process and organising the award ceremony. As Green Impact Coordinator you will be in close contact with the policy officer sustainability of WUR and the Green Impact Coordinator of Rootability, an organisation that supports Green Offices that run the Green Impact Program at their institution.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit student volunteers and organise fun and interactive get togethers to exchange idea’s
  • Recruit staff members to form Green Impact teams
  • Organise workshops to explain the program
  • Create opportunities to increase the amount of people engaged in Green Impact
  • Activate, support and stimulate the existing teams
  • Coordinate the auditing process
  • Organise the award ceremony
  • Give feedback on the content of the Green Impact toolkit
  • Stay in close contact with the policy officer of WUR and the Green Impact Coordinator of Rootability

Communication & Outreach Coordinator
The Communication & Outreach Coordinator is responsible for this Green Office portfolio throughout the year. This includes for example the Annual Introductory Days (AID), Seriously Sustainable Week (October) and Warm Sweater Week (January/ February), but depending on your interest you can also develop new projects. The responsibilities include the promotion of activities, as well as engaging with the WUR community and beyond. As Communication & Outreach Coordinator, you create a positive buzz around the Green Office and its projects and you try to involve as many people as possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate the Green Office communication strategy and communication plan
  • Keep the Green Office on-line channels (website, Facebook, intranet) up-to-date
  • Create and send around the seasonal Green Office newsletter
  • Actively promote the Green Office and its projects online
  • Organize activities to promote the Green Office and engage more people
  • Stay in contact with multiple organisations within and outside WUR for fruitful collaborations
  • Coordinate the Green Office promotion during the AID, Seriously Sustainable Week, Warm Sweater Week, One World Week, Buurten bij de Burenweek, etc.

Energy & IT Coordinator
The Energy & IT Coordinator is responsible for this Green Office portfolio throughout the year. This includes for example the Warm Sweater Week, projects about E-waste and our Fume Hood project that aims to reduce the energy consumption on labs, but depending on your own interest you can also develop new projects. The responsibilities include the promotion and organisation of activities to create awareness, as well as direct contact with people from the University to lobby for more sustainable alternatives. As Energy & IT Coordinator you have a real impact on how WUR goes about it’s energy and IT use. This makes it possible to make the operations of WUR more sustainable.

Responsibilities

The Education & Research Coordinator is responsible for this Green Office portfolio throughout the year. This includes for example the Green Teacher Award, Green Match and Entrepreneurship for Sustainability, but depending on your own interest you can also develop new projects. The responsibilities include the promotion and organisation of activities to create awareness, as well as direct contact with people from the University to work towards more sustainable education and connected research. As Education & Research Coordinator, you have a real impact on the education that is provided at WUR and the connected research. This makes it possible to make your own studies more sustainable.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out existing projects within the Education & Research Portfolio (monitoring, promotion, organisation, internal and external communication)
  • Follow developments at WUR and identify opportunities for new projects
  • Prepare and lobby for new projects
