We are currently looking for:

  • Education & Research Coordinator (8 hours – paid)
  • Sustainability Blog Editor (2-4 hours- voluntarily)
  • Student Cooking Corner Project Leader (2-4 hours – voluntarily)

Education & Research Coordinator

The Education & Research Coordinator is responsible for multiple projects to further integrate sustainability in the research and study programs provided by WUR. This includes for example Green Career, Entrepreneurship for Sustainability and Sustainable Competencies. but depending on your own interest you can also develop new projects within the portfolio. The responsibilities include the promotion and organisation of activities to create awareness, as well as direct contact with people from the University to work towards more sustainable education and connected research. As Education & Research Coordinator, you have a real impact on the education that is provided at WUR. This makes it possible to make your own studies and the studies from all future students at WUR more sustainable.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out existing projects within the Education & Research Portfolio (monitoring, promotion, organisation, internal and external communication);
  • Follow developments at WUR and identify opportunities for new projects;
  • Take the initiative in defining and proposing new projects;
  • Communicate about the progress of the projects via Green Office communication channels.

What are we looking for?

A bachelor/master student at WUR with…

  • Passion for sustainability and interest in education for sustainable development;
  • A listening ear as well as a strong opinion about how to make WUR education more sustainable;
  • Motivation and perseverance to convince and engage people;
  • Organisational skills for engaging sustainability events;
  • Ability to work independently on personal tasks as well as cooperatively in a team;
  • Available for 8 hours a week from the 1st of September (at least 1 year);
  • Available for some days in July/August and preferably also during the AID.

Sustainability Blog Editor

The blog is a new project of the Green Office, with the goal to share more information and more extensive stories with our audience. As a Blog Editor, you investigate different aspects of sustainability by writing and collecting interesting stories for our sustainability blog. These stories can for example be about how to be sustainable as a student, or about the opinion of students about sustainability at WUR. Your job is to write and collect blogs and place them on the Green Office website. Once they are online, the link to the blogs can be shared on our social media channels too.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the blog among WUR students and stimulate them to write blogs about the sustainable things they are passionate about;
  • Edit the blogs of the guest writers to make sure they are of good quality;
  • Write additional blogs yourself about different aspects of sustainability, both in student life and at WUR;
  • Place the blogs on the Green Office website and share them on our social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram and maybe LinkedIn);
  • Send the best blogs to duurzamestudent.nl, to be shared on their platform as well.

Student Cooking Corner Project Leader

The main goal of the Student Cooking Corner is to Stimulate the (international) community of Wageningen to show their local and vegetarian cooking skills to other students and staff members at WUR. Every Wednesday during lunch, students have the chance to sell homemade food. We provide one table the first floor of Forum and either a heating pot or chafing dish to serve your food. All money from sales is for them! Students can sign in via a our website to reserve a spot.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the student cooking corner both online and in the university buildings itself;
  • Confirm the bookings and communicate the details with the student cooks and the Forum caterer;
  • Promote the upcoming dishes via the Green Office social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram);
  • Fill up the online cookbook on the Green Office website, based on your own recipes as well as dished being cooked by student cooks;
  • Investigate possibilities to get rid of disposables at the student cooking corner.

You can also get involved as a volunteer! This takes a little less time than a coordinator position and is a very good way to get to know the Green Office. To make it even more fun and less time consuming, you can also apply on one of the positions together with a friend!

    • Join a team of sustainably-minded staff members and assist them in performing sustainable actions in and around their workplace.
  • Green Office Flex Volunteers (always open!)
    • Do you have a limited amount of time, but still want to help the Green Office? Get involved by doing all kinds of different tasks whenever you are available!

A volunteer position requires only about 2-4 hours a week. You will be part of an enthusiastic and international team and gain experience in a green-minded student organization.
