Green Impact Program

Green Impact Program

Green Impact is a change and engagement program to encourage people to take concrete actions on socio-economic and environmental issues at work and beyond. Teams of staff and students from any Sciences Group, department, chair group, unit, service or building can participate in Green Impact.

The Green Impact Programme was introduced to engage staff in the sustainability at the WUR. The staff can form teams to tackle basic or more advanced sustainability related issues at their working place and beyond. The teams subscribe to the toolkit: www.greenimpact.org.uk/wur and choose which actions they want to implement. The teams earn points for the actions they implement. All actions are monitored, and the teams can see how well they are doing compared to other teams in the achievement report. At the end of the cycle, all points scored by a teams are added and they can win several awards (based on the number of actions they have done).

Students can play a role as well. They can be involved as Green Impact project assistants (GIPAs). They can stimulate the teams to implement more actions and provide help, for instance with the implementation of action or the uploading of evidence. All GIPAs will be part of a community. Besides, they can play a role at the end of the Green Impact Programme cycle as auditors. The auditors will meet with the teams to verify proof of actions taken (is all evidence uploaded well in the toolkit) and talk about the teams experiences: what did they like and what can still be improved.
